If you want to create a fun ladybug costume this year for Halloween, there are a few ideas which you can use to create the perfect ladybug look.
For ladybug Halloween costumes, begin with the base of the costume which would be a red outfit such as red jeans and a red long sleeved shirt, or for a dressier costume, wear red tights with a red skirt and shirt or a red dress. Color combinations of red and black can be blended up in any way such as a red dress and black tights, or a red shirt, black skirt and red tights. If you can find a red dress or red shirt with black polka dots, that is an even closer way to resemble a lady bug. Red clothes with black polka dots can be hard to find, but if you can find a white article of clothing with black polka dots, red clothing dye can always be used to dye the white parts of the clothing red.
For a shoe choice for ladybug costumes, wear red stilettos or black patent leather stilettos. However if you will be doing a lot of walking around, red or black flats will work just as well. Another detail which should not be forgotten are the wings. Black insect wings can be purchased at a party or halloween supply store and they can be dressed up to look more like a ladybug by sprinkling them with red glitter or gluing on red rhinestones. Also, most party supply stores sell white angel wings which can be dyed red with red clothing dye and black dots or black rhinestones can be glued on to look more like lady bug costume wings.
Don’t forget one of the most important details of a ladybug costume, and this is the antennae. Most celebration supply stores sell readymade antennae headbands. If they can't be found or you prefer to make your own, two black pipe cleaners can be glued to a black velvet headband, and spray painted foam balls can be stuck on to the end of the pipe cleaners to look like insect antennae.
